The song of Zechariah may be divided thus: vs 68-70, thanks to God for the coming of the Messiah: verses 71-75, the purpose of the Messiah’s coming; verses 76-77, the mission of John; verses 78-79, further picture of the Messiah’s coming.
Trace in the song of Zechariah the successive stages in the unfolding of God’s plan of salvation through the Old Testament and up to the coming of the Messiah. How does it reveal the unity of the Old and New Testaments.
This I am vague about. I can only answer that God promised that He would save His people from the hands of their enemies so they can worship Him without fear.
What, according to this song, is the purpose of salavtion? Is this your experience:
To give knowledge of salvation to His people by the forgiveness of their sins. My experience keeps growing daily. I at times struggle with “earning” my salvation. I sometimes feel when I resist sin, that I start earning my salvation, that by not sinning, I’m pleasing God and building “credits” in Heaven. I feel most of my sins are premeditated, I know I’m sinning when I sin, thus I feel like crap afterwards. I believe that God forgives me, but I have trouble forgiving myself after I ask for His forgiveness.
